The Adult Education Program at Adelante Mujeres in Sherwood, OR, is dedicated to empowering low-income women by providing them with the chance to complete their secondary education and gain essential life skills. With classes running five days a week for six hours a day throughout the school year, the program offers a diverse range of courses including English Language Development, GED preparation in various subjects, budgeting and personal finance, job readiness training, parenting education, civic engagement, and nutritional education. Additionally, workshops that foster personal growth through forgiveness and conflict resolution are integral to our offerings. By closely collaborating with our Early Childhood Education Program, we ensure that mothers can access quality preschool and childcare while they study, allowing them to simultaneously practice important parenting skills in a supportive environment. Utilizing a popular education model that emphasizes participation and contextual learning, we strive to create an inclusive space where low-income Latina women can thrive as leaders in their families and communities.
