About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Talent, OR, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders committed to a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program provides invaluable training and support for Fellows who aspire to advocate for social, environmental, and economic equity in food production. Through a tuition-free model, we promote accessibility to our comprehensive organic food system education. Our Fellows engage in hands-on experiences, working with community partners to cultivate and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health education programs, maintain school and community gardens, and enhance food literacy among students. Additionally, they contribute to local farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives while building distribution channels to improve access to nutritious foods. Each Fellow experiences six months at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a hands-on Community Action Year, partnering with regional non-profits to apply their learning in meaningful ways. Applications are accepted until March, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
