The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Alexandria, SD, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of food advocates and educators committed to creating a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. This transformative program, which is tuition-free to enhance accessibility, offers hands-on training in organic food systems and empowers Fellows to actively engage with their communities. Participants will gain invaluable experiences through initiatives such as cultivating diversified crops on market-style farms, leading educational workshops in innovative health care, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy in local schools. Over a six-month immersive experience at Allegheny Farm, followed by a Community Action Year, Fellows work alongside regional non-profits to enhance food accessibility and support local food markets. To join this rewarding Fellowship, applications must be completed by March each year for the program running from May to October.
