The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Brookings, SD, provides vital training and support for emerging leaders dedicated to creating a fair and sustainable food system. This comprehensive program empowers Fellows through hands-on education in organic farming practices and community engagement, equipping them to be advocates for social, environmental, and economic justice. During a transformative six-month residency at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, selected individuals immerse themselves in experiential learning that encompasses growing diversified crops, implementing innovative health initiatives, and nurturing school gardens. After this enriching experience, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, where they collaborate with regional non-profits to enhance food access and support local agriculture. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October, ensuring dependable food assistance and ecological literacy in communities across the region.
