Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Allegheny Mountain Institute (AMI) Castlewood, SD

About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Castlewood, SD, empowers dedicated individuals to become advocates and educators for a just and sustainable food system. This transformative program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, prioritizes accessibility by providing tuition-free education in organic food systems. During a six-month immersive experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows engage in hands-on learning, cultivating diversified crops, and implementing innovative community health initiatives. They also have the opportunity to maintain gardens, mentor future cohorts, and support local farmers' markets and direct-to-consumer strategies. After their fellowship, participants enter a Community Action Year, applying their skills with partner non-profits to further enhance food access and ecological literacy in the region. We invite aspiring change-makers to join us in reshaping our food landscape; applications are open until March for the fellowship that runs from May to October each year.
