The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Colton, SD, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates for a fair and sustainable food system. Through comprehensive training and hands-on experience, the Fellowship empowers individuals to engage in organic food system education and supports initiatives that promote social, environmental, and economic justice. Participants will have the opportunity to work on a market-style farm, facilitate educational programs in innovative health care, and manage community or school gardens. Our Fellows implement vital projects that enhance food literacy, support local farmers markets, and increase access to healthy foods through robust distribution channels. This immersive six-month program culminates in a Community Action Year, allowing Fellows to apply their skills collaboratively with regional non-profits. We believe in making this transformative experience accessible, with no tuition fees involved. Applications are open until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
