The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Custer, SD is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates for a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. This transformative program empowers Fellows through hands-on training and mentorship, enabling them to teach and implement sustainable practices within their communities. Without the barrier of tuition, our Fellowship promotes accessibility while providing comprehensive education on organic food systems. Participants engage in activities such as growing and distributing diverse crops, managing school and community gardens, and developing initiatives that enhance food and ecological literacy. Throughout their six-month residential training at our farm campus, Fellows will be equipped to launch impactful community projects and support local food efforts. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October, with a focus on enhancing food access and community engagement.
