About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Faulkton, SD, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a just and sustainable food system. This fellowship provides no-cost access to comprehensive education in organic food systems, enabling selected Fellows to engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm. During their six-month immersive experience, Fellows collaborate with local partners to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative healthcare educational sessions, maintain community gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into school programs. They also support farmers markets and develop channels to enhance access to nutritious foods. After the residency, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits to drive impactful food initiatives. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship typically running from May to October.
