The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Flandreau, SD, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of leaders who champion a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program offers immersive training without tuition barriers, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring advocates. Fellows engage in hands-on learning about organic food systems while working on diversified crop production, community gardens, and farmers markets. Through partnerships with local nonprofits, they implement innovative educational initiatives that promote food and ecological literacy, enhance access to healthy foods, and foster collaboration within community food coalitions. Over six months, these dedicated individuals reside at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their knowledge and skills to make a real impact in their regions.
