About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Fort Pierre, SD, is dedicated to empowering individuals to lead transformative change in our food systems. Through comprehensive training and hands-on experiences, our Fellows are equipped to advocate for a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Our program emphasizes organic food system education and provides Fellows with the opportunity to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health education sessions, maintain community gardens, and promote food literacy in schools. By participating in farmer's markets and direct-to-consumer programs, Fellows actively enhance access to healthy foods in their communities. After six months of immersive learning at our rural campus, selected Fellows engage in a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to apply their skills and initiatives. We offer this program free of charge to ensure that it remains accessible to all aspiring advocates. Applications are open until March each year, and the fellowship experience typically unfolds from May to October.
