The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Freeman, SD, is dedicated to cultivating leaders who champion a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Our program empowers Fellows through comprehensive organic food system education, offering them the tools to become effective teachers and advocates. We provide a unique, tuition-free learning experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, allowing selected Fellows to immerse themselves in hands-on training and community engagement without financial barriers. Over six months, they will learn to grow and distribute a variety of crops, lead innovative educational sessions, maintain community gardens, and enhance food literacy in schools. Following their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, partnering with regional non-profits to amplify their impact. We welcome a diverse range of applicants to apply by March, with experiences typically unfolding from May to October, all aimed at boosting access to healthy foods and supporting vibrant community food initiatives throughout the region.
