The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Gregory, SD, is dedicated to fostering a transformative food system that champions social, environmental, and economic justice. This innovative program empowers selected Fellows through comprehensive, tuition-free training in organic food systems, equipping them to become advocates and educators in their communities. Over a six-month experiential residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants engage in hands-on learning and collaborate with local partners on projects that include growing diverse crops, implementing health-focused educational sessions, and maintaining community gardens. Following this immersive experience, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, utilizing their skills in partnership with regional non-profits to strengthen local food networks. The Fellowship emphasizes accessibility, aiming to increase healthy food access and promote food literacy across the community. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May through October.
