The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Groton, SD, empowers individuals to become advocates for a just food system through hands-on training and education. This six-month experiential program invites selected Fellows to the Allegheny Farm, where they learn about organic food production and sustainability without any tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. Participants gain practical experience in growing diverse crops, conducting health education sessions, managing community gardens, and enhancing food literacy in schools. The Fellowship also fosters partnerships with regional organizations to support local farmers markets and improve access to healthy foods. Following their time at the farm, Fellows engage in a Community Action Year, putting their training into practice and mentoring future cohorts, all while promoting food system equity and environmental stewardship.
