About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Harrisburg, SD, is dedicated to cultivating future leaders in sustainable agriculture and food justice. This transformative program provides participants with comprehensive education on organic food systems and empowers them to champion socially, environmentally, and economically just practices. Through hands-on experience at our farm, Fellows learn to grow diversified crops, implement innovative health education, maintain community gardens, and enhance food literacy in schools. Our initiative also supports local farmers' markets and strengthens community food coalitions, promoting greater access to healthy food for all. We prioritize accessibility by not charging tuition for the Fellowship. Selected participants engage in a six-month immersive experience followed by a Community Action Year, where they apply their training with regional nonprofits. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the experience running from May to October.
