The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in Hartford, SD, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become advocates for a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Our program offers a unique opportunity for selected Fellows to immerse themselves in organic food system education at the Allegheny Farm Campus. Through hands-on experience, participants will engage with community partners to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health education, maintain community and school gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy. With a commitment to increasing access to healthy food, our Fellows will contribute to farmers markets and develop strategies for direct-to-consumer programs. By the end of their six-month experiential residency, they will apply their training in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations during a Community Action Year. We believe in accessibility and do not charge tuition for our program, making it an inviting opportunity for those passionate about creating a just food system. Applications are welcomed until March each year, with the Fellowship experience running from May to October.
