About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Hermosa, SD, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders who advocate for a just and sustainable food system. This fellowship provides an immersive six-month experiential learning program at our Allegheny Farm, focusing on organic food system education without any tuition costs, ensuring accessibility for all. Fellows engage in hands-on experiences such as growing diversified crops, maintaining community and school gardens, and supporting health initiatives through innovative educational sessions. They actively participate in farmer’s markets, enhance food distribution channels to improve access to nutritious food, and collaborate with local non-profits during their Community Action Year to implement what they've learned. Through mentorship and community engagement, we empower our Fellows to integrate food and ecological literacy into local programs, creating a positive impact that resonates with social, environmental, and economic justice. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
