About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Hot Springs, SD, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of leaders in sustainable food practices. Through an innovative, no-tuition program, we empower selected Fellows to engage deeply with organic food systems, emphasizing a just and sustainable approach. Our Fellowship provides hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm, where participants learn to grow and distribute diversified crops, implement health-focused educational initiatives, and maintain community gardens. We also encourage Fellows to promote food literacy in schools and support local farmers markets and direct-to-consumer models, enhancing access to healthy food in the region. After an immersive six-month experience, Fellows transition into a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their knowledge and continue championing food justice. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the Fellowship running from May to October.
