The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Madison, SD, is dedicated to nurturing advocates and educators committed to building a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic sustainability. By offering a tuition-free training program, we ensure that all aspiring Fellows have access to comprehensive organic food system education. Our program not only focuses on growing and distributing diversified crops but also empowers community engagement through initiatives like school and community garden management, health care education, and support for farmers markets. Over the course of six months of immersive training at the Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows engage in practical, hands-on experiences, followed by a Community Action Year where they partner with regional non-profit organizations to implement their learning and foster a healthier food landscape. We invite passionate individuals to apply by March each year to join us from May to October in teaching food and ecological literacy, developing access to healthy foods, and mentoring the next generation of Fellows.
