Located in Marion, SD, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship offers a transformative opportunity for individuals passionate about creating a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This program is dedicated to empowering Fellows through comprehensive organic food system education and hands-on experiences at the Allegheny Farm in Virginia. With no tuition fees, accessibility is at the forefront of our mission, enabling diverse participants to engage in impactful initiatives such as growing diverse crops on a market-style farm, implementing innovative health education sessions, and maintaining community and school gardens. Fellows will also learn to integrate food and ecological literacy into academic activities while supporting local farmers markets and enhancing direct-to-consumer distribution channels for healthy foods. The fellowship consists of a six-month immersive training experience followed by a Community Action Year, where selected individuals can apply their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits. Applications are due by March each year, with the program typically running from May to October.
