The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Milbank, SD, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates and educators in sustainable food systems. Our program is committed to fostering a food system that is just, environmentally sustainable, and economically viable. By offering organic food system education and hands-on training in a collaborative environment, we empower Fellows to lead initiatives such as community gardening, crop distribution, and health education workshops. We aim to enhance access to nutritious foods while supporting local farmers and food coalitions. Selected Fellows undergo a transformative six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their knowledge alongside regional non-profits. Our initiative is tuition-free, ensuring that accessibility remains at the heart of our mission. Applications are due by March each year for the fellowship period running from May to October.
