The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Miller, SD empowers individuals to become advocates and educators for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. This transformative program offers Fellows the opportunity to receive organic food system education without tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. Throughout a six-month experiential learning journey at Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, participants engage in diverse activities, such as growing and distributing crops on a market-style farm, leading health-related educational sessions, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food literacy in schools. After completing their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to enhance community food access, support farmers' markets, and mentor the next generation of leaders in food advocacy. Aspiring Fellows can apply by March each year, with the enriching experience typically taking place from May to October.
