About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Mission, SD, empowers individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. By providing comprehensive training and sponsorship, this program fosters the next generation of leaders in sustainable agriculture. During a six-month, hands-on residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows gain invaluable experience in organic food system education while collaborating with local partners to grow and distribute diversified crops, maintain community gardens, and integrate food literacy into educational activities. Participants will also engage in innovative healthcare sessions, support farmers markets, and develop vital distribution channels for enhanced access to healthy food options. After their residency, Fellows commence a Community Action Year, applying their expertise with regional non-profit organizations. With no tuition fees, the Fellowship is dedicated to ensuring accessibility and nurturing a cohort of passionate advocates for a just food economy.
