About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Parkston, SD, is dedicated to empowering individuals through a comprehensive program that nurtures future leaders in sustainable agriculture and food justice. By providing education on organic food systems, the Fellowship enables participants to become advocates for a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically equitable. The program is tuition-free, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring Fellows. Over the course of six months at the Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows engage in hands-on training, including managing market-style farming, creating community gardens, and facilitating educational sessions that promote food and ecological literacy. Following their training, fellows enter a Community Action Year, partnering with local non-profits to implement their knowledge, support farmers markets, and enhance access to healthy foods within the community. Applications are open until March each year, with the program running from May to October, creating a transformative experience for those passionate about making a difference in the food system.
