Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Allegheny Mountain Institute (AMI) Philip, SD

About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Philip, SD, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become advocates for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through this transformative program, selected Fellows engage in an immersive, six-month experiential learning residency at the Allegheny Farm, where they receive organic food system education and hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture. Our commitment to accessibility means there is no tuition fee, allowing diverse participants to learn how to grow and distribute various crops, maintain school and community gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into educational settings. After the residency, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to implement innovative health care educational sessions, support farmers markets, and enhance access to healthy food. We invite passionate individuals to apply by March each year for this impactful fellowship that runs from May to October.
