The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Platte, SD is dedicated to cultivating leaders in sustainable agriculture and food systems advocacy, focusing on social, environmental, and economic justice. This immersive program offers aspiring Fellows the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning at Allegheny Farm, where they develop essential skills in organic farming and community food systems. With a commitment to accessibility, AMI does not charge tuition for the Fellowship, ensuring that diverse voices can contribute to the future of food. Participants can expect to actively grow and distribute a diversity of crops, implement innovative health education sessions, maintain community gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into educational settings. After six months of enriching, experiential training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, partnering with regional non-profits to put their knowledge into practice. Those interested should apply by March to begin their transformative journey in May.
