About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Redfield, SD, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to champion a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program offers an enriching, tuition-free education in organic food systems, enabling Fellows to engage with local communities effectively. Participants have the opportunity to grow and distribute diverse crops on a market-style farm, conduct educational sessions to improve health care innovation, maintain community gardens, and enhance food and ecological literacy within educational activities. Additionally, Fellows support farmers markets, develop distribution channels to increase access to healthy foods, and engage in community food coalition initiatives. Over six months of immersive learning at our Farm Campus followed by a Community Action Year, selected Fellows will connect with regional non-profit organizations to apply their knowledge and make a tangible impact. Applications are accepted until March each year, with experiences typically running from May to October.
