About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in Saint Francis, SD, is dedicated to fostering a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program empowers passionate individuals to become effective educators and advocates through comprehensive training at Allegheny Farm in Virginia. We offer organic food system education at no tuition cost, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring Fellows. Throughout the six-month immersive program, participants engage in hands-on learning while working with diverse partners to grow and distribute crops, implement innovative health education, maintain community and school gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy. Our Fellows play a crucial role in enhancing access to healthy foods and support local initiatives such as farmers markets and community food coalitions. After completing their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits. Applications are accepted until March each year for experiences running from May to October.
