About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Salem, SD, is dedicated to training and empowering emerging leaders to advocate for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Through our tuition-free program, we provide comprehensive organic food system education with a hands-on approach. Selected Fellows embark on a six-month experiential training at our Allegheny Farm, where they engage in cultivating diverse crops, implementing innovative health workshops, and supporting community gardens. Our network of Community Fellows collaborates with local partners to enhance food accessibility, promote food and ecological literacy in schools, and strengthen farmers markets. After their training, Fellows participate in a Community Action Year, applying their skills alongside regional non-profits. We encourage applicants to submit their applications by March for a transformative experience running from May to October.
