Located in Webster, SD, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship at the Allegheny Mountain Institute is dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system. Our program empowers individuals through comprehensive training in organic food system education, enabling them to serve as educators and advocates for positive change in their communities. Selected Fellows participate in a six-month immersive experience at Allegheny Farm, where they engage in practical learning and community projects such as growing diversified crops, maintaining gardens, and enhancing food literacy in educational settings. Our goal is to increase access to healthy foods and support local agriculture by collaborating with regional non-profit organizations during the Community Action Year. We believe in making this opportunity accessible to all, which is why we do not charge tuition. The application is open until March each year, and the fellowship experience usually runs from May to October.
