About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Wessington Springs, SD, is dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders in food justice by providing comprehensive training in organic food systems. Our fellowship offers hands-on education and mentorship, allowing selected participants to engage in innovative projects such as growing and distributing diverse crops on market-style farms, maintaining school and community gardens, and creating educational programs that integrate food and ecological literacy. We prioritize accessibility by not charging tuition, ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds can contribute to building a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Over a six-month immersive experience at our farm campus, followed by a transformative Community Action Year, Fellows gain the skills and support necessary to advocate for food assistance initiatives and enhance access to healthy food within their communities. Applications are open until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
