The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Yankton, SD, is dedicated to cultivating passionate advocates for a fair and sustainable food system. Through a comprehensive six-month experiential program, our Fellows undergo hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm, where they learn to teach and promote practices that are socially, environmentally, and economically just. Offering free access to education, we prioritize inclusivity and community engagement. Our program equips Fellows to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health education, and foster food literacy in schools. Additionally, they support farmers markets and develop channels to increase access to healthy foods. After completing their training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, partnering with local non-profits to effect meaningful change. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October, empowering the next generation of food system leaders right here in our community.
