About Youth Villages Dogwood Campus
Youth Villages - Dogwood Campus provides residential treatment for boys and girls struggling with mental health and behavioral challenges. Located on 41 peaceful acres in rural Tennessee, the facility specializes in addressing self-harming behaviors, suicidal ideation, problematic sexual behaviors, extreme aggression, psychotic symptoms, and co-occurring disorders, with a dedicated treatment track for substance use issues.
The program takes a trauma-informed approach, helping staff understand and respond to children's behaviors with compassion. Treatment incorporates multiple therapeutic modalities including individual and group therapy, family counseling, recreation therapy, and art therapy. Children live in small communities of 10-12 peers grouped by gender, age, and diagnosis, creating supportive healing environments.
Education is provided through the Morris-Wilson Campus School, which offers individualized instruction in small classes specifically designed for children with emotional and behavioral challenges. Speech and language therapy and special education services are available to those who need them, complemented by modern computer lab and library facilities.
The campus features numerous recreational facilities including a gymnasium, basketball court, softball field, swimming pool, multiple playgrounds, and equine therapy opportunities. These amenities support therapeutic activities while also allowing children to experience joy and playfulness, balancing structured treatment with opportunities to simply be kids within a safe, closely supervised environment.
