The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Madison, TN, champions the development of future leaders in sustainable agriculture and community food systems. The program empowers participants through a comprehensive, hands-on educational experience, free of tuition, to ensure that aspiring advocates can focus on promoting a food system that is fair, environmentally responsible, and economically viable. Fellows engage in a six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm, where they gain practical knowledge in organic farming, crop diversification, and community engagement. After their fellowship, participants enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profit organizations to implement innovative health education, support farmers markets, maintain community gardens, and enhance food access initiatives. Applications for this transformative experience are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
