Based in Spring Hill, TN, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship nurtures future advocates for an equitable food system through a comprehensive training program at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. This initiative empowers Fellows with organic food system education and hands-on experience, free from tuition to ensure accessibility for all participants. Over six months, selected Fellows engage in experiential learning that includes growing and distributing diversified crops, implementing community health education, and maintaining gardens in schools or neighborhoods. They also facilitate food literacy and mentor the next generation of leaders. Following their fellowship, participants embark on a Community Action Year, partnering with local non-profits to enhance food access, support farmers markets, and contribute to community food initiatives.
