About Farmers Assisting Returning Military (F.A.R.M.)
Farmers Assisting Returning Military (F.A.R.M.) in Grand Prairie, TX, offers a nurturing environment for veterans transitioning back to civilian life through agricultural engagement. Founded by two Iraq War veterans, our organization recognizes the therapeutic benefits of working the land in tandem with fellow veterans facing challenges such as suicidal ideations, homelessness, and chemical dependency. F.A.R.M. provides hands-on training in farming and livestock management, fostering a peer-to-peer support network that helps participants rediscover purpose and camaraderie. While our internship program is currently under development, we encourage all veterans to connect with us for possible involvement in farm activities, mentorship, and future opportunities when they become available. Through our program, participants can gain valuable farming experience and access resources to enhance their skills and employment prospects in agriculture. All veterans are welcome to join our community, regardless of military discharge status, and will receive ongoing support on their journey towards healing and reintegration into society. At the conclusion of our program, participants will earn a certificate of completion and have the chance to secure positions at our urban farm or partner farms, helping to continue their education and experience in the agricultural field.
