The Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) in Harlingen, TX offers vital health and nutrition services aimed at enhancing the dietary well-being of pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, as well as infants and children at nutritional risk. Our mission is to empower families through education on proper nutrition, providing personalized nutrition counseling and informative classes tailored for parents and caregivers. WIC supports breastfeeding by offering guidance and, in many cases, free breast pumps, emphasizing the significance of breastfeeding for a child’s development. Each month, eligible families receive benefits to purchase nutritious foods, including iron-fortified infant formula, cereals, fresh fruits and vegetables, and dairy products, ensuring access to essential nutrition. We also connect participants with additional health and social services. WIC serves pregnant women, new mothers, and guardians of young children under five who meet our income and nutritional risk criteria.
