The Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) in Harlingen, TX, is dedicated to enhancing the health and nutrition of pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, as well as infants and young children at risk for nutrition-related issues. Our mission is to empower families with knowledge and resources for better dietary choices through individual counseling and nutrition education classes tailored to both mothers and their children. We offer vital breastfeeding support, including guidance and free breast pumps, to help mothers provide the best start for their babies. Each month, participants receive benefits to purchase nutritious foods like iron-fortified infant formula, milk, eggs, fruits, and vegetables, which are crucial for growth and development. WIC also assists clients by connecting them to essential health and social services. Eligible participants include pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers with infants under one year, and guardians of children under five, with services available for those meeting income guidelines and nutritional risk assessments. Clients are encouraged to apply in person to start their journey towards improved health and well-being.
