Farmers Assisting Returning Military (F.A.R.M.) in North Richland Hills, TX, is dedicated to helping veterans transition back into civilian life through agriculture. Founded by two veterans of the Iraq War, F.A.R.M. offers a nurturing environment where veterans can work alongside peers on various farms, growing crops and caring for animals. Our mission is to provide a sense of purpose and community for veterans facing challenges like suicidal ideations, homelessness, and chemical dependency. Participants can engage in hands-on farming activities while receiving training in a supportive peer-to-peer setting. Although our internship programs are currently on hold as we develop new farm locations, we invite all veterans to join us for events and workdays. Through our agricultural internship, Future Farmer Trainees can receive monthly stipends and gain valuable experience, culminating in a certificate that contributes towards farming loan eligibility. We connect veterans to essential resources for overcoming dependency, helping them find their footing before welcoming them to the farm. By joining F.A.R.M., veterans not only cultivate the land but also build lasting bonds, gain experience for future employment, and access impactful educational resources.
