At the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Abingdon, VA, we are dedicated to empowering the next generation of educators and advocates for a food system that champions social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program offers an inclusive, tuition-free opportunity for passionate individuals to engage in comprehensive organic food system education. During a transformative six-month experience on the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows not only learn sustainable farming techniques but also cultivate skills necessary for a wide range of community-focused initiatives. From growing and distributing diverse crops to supporting local farmers markets and enhancing food and ecological literacy in schools, our Fellows take active roles in their communities. After their training, they further their impact through a Community Action Year, collaborating with non-profit organizations to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways. Applications are accepted until March, with the fellowship experience running from May to October each year.
