The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Bristol, VA, is dedicated to fostering leaders who advocate for a food system that is just and sustainable. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, our Fellowship provides comprehensive training in organic food systems without any tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring educators and advocates. Through hands-on experiences at our Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows engage in diverse activities such as growing and distributing crops on market-style farms, implementing innovative educational programs, and supporting local farmers' markets. Our Fellows also contribute to the establishment of community gardens and mentor future cohorts, enriching their understanding of food and ecological literacy. After an intensive six-month residency, they embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to put their knowledge into action and strengthen food access in their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year, with experiences taking place from May to October.
