The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Alburgh, VT, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates and educators in sustainable food systems. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this Fellowship provides a comprehensive six-month immersive training experience at the Allegheny Farm, focusing on socially, environmentally, and economically just practices in food production. Our program prioritizes accessibility by eliminating tuition fees, ensuring that all aspiring Fellows can participate. Throughout their journey, Fellows engage in hands-on learning, cultivating diversified crops on a market-style farm, facilitating community gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational settings. They also mentor peers, support farmers markets, and develop distribution avenues to enhance access to nutritious food for all. Following their training, each Fellow embarks on a Community Action Year, applying their skills in collaboration with local non-profits to transform their communities through innovative food systems initiatives. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the Fellowship experience running from May to October.
