The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Bellows Falls, VT, nurtures a new generation of advocates for a just food system through hands-on training and support. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship focuses on empowering participants with the knowledge needed to promote social, environmental, and economic equity in food production. The program, which is offered at no tuition cost to enhance accessibility, provides comprehensive education in organic farming, integrating food and ecological literacy into community activities, and fostering innovative health initiatives. Fellows engage in a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they collaborate with regional non-profit organizations to implement sustainable practices. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience occurring from May to October, allowing participants to grow diversified crops, manage community gardens, support farmers markets, and drive increased access to healthy food across their communities.
