Located in Derby Line, VT, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship at Allegheny Mountain Institute is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to be champions of a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Our Fellowship program offers immersive, hands-on education in organic food systems without tuition fees, enhancing accessibility for aspiring community leaders. During their six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows engage in a variety of initiatives that include cultivating diverse crops in a market-style setting, facilitating innovative health education, and fostering school and community gardens. They also play a vital role in promoting food and ecological literacy within educational frameworks, supporting farmers markets, and creating effective distribution channels for healthier food access. Following their training, Fellows participate in a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their knowledge and make a tangible impact.
