About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Fairfax, VT is dedicated to cultivating future leaders who advocate for a food system rooted in social, environmental, and economic justice. At the Allegheny Farm, the fellowship offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to learn and teach about organic food systems without the burden of tuition, ensuring accessibility for all. Fellows engage in hands-on experiences that encompass growing and distributing diversified crops, running educational sessions for innovative healthcare, and enhancing community gardens. Participants will also help promote food and ecological literacy in schools, support farmers markets, and develop channels for increased access to healthy foods. Over the course of six months at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows immerse themselves in an experiential program, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their skills in partnership with local non-profits, actively contributing to a more equitable food landscape. Applications are accepted until March, with the program running from May to October each year.
