Located in Hartland, VT, the After-School Program at Upper Valley Haven is dedicated to fostering a nurturing and engaging environment for school-aged children who are current and former shelter guests. Operating every day that local schools are in session, as well as during vacation weeks with exciting activities and field trips, our program emphasizes social and emotional learning. We offer dedicated homework assistance and a diverse array of enrichment opportunities such as rock climbing, music, dance, cultural performances, and arts and crafts. Children engage in seasonal outings like skating and hiking, and learn valuable life skills, including financial literacy, nutrition, and cooking. Our compassionate Children’s Services Coordinator actively works to strengthen family connections with schools by participating in conferences and special education meetings, ensuring that families feel supported and empowered within the school community.
