About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Hartland, VT, is dedicated to cultivating passionate advocates for a just and sustainable food system. By sponsoring and training Fellows, we empower them to become teachers and leaders committed to social, environmental, and economic justice in our food systems. Our program offers comprehensive organic food system education without tuition fees, ensuring accessibility. Selected Fellows embark on a six-month experiential journey at the Allegheny Farm Campus, where they learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, develop community gardens, and implement educational sessions that promote food and ecological literacy. They also engage in initiatives to enhance access to healthy foods, support local farmers markets, and build partnerships with regional non-profit organizations. Following this immersive experience, Fellows dedicate a Community Action Year to applying their knowledge, mentoring future cohorts, and making a tangible impact. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship period running from May to October.
