About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Norwich, VT, is dedicated to fostering a new generation of advocates and educators who champion a fair and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique program offers a tuition-free pathway for passionate individuals to engage in transformative learning experiences at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. Over six months, selected Fellows gain vital skills in organic food systems, collaborating with local partners to cultivate diverse crops, implement innovative health education, and support community gardens. The fellowship empowers participants to enhance food literacy in schools, bolster farmer markets, and create stronger distribution networks for healthy food access. Following their immersive training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, where they put their knowledge into practice alongside regional non-profit organizations, making a real impact in their communities. Applications are accepted until March, with the program running from May to October each year.
