About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Pownal, VT, empowers dedicated individuals to become catalysts for change in our food systems. This transformative program offers comprehensive education on organic farming practices, ensuring that our Fellows advocate for a food system anchored in social, environmental, and economic justice. With no tuition fees, we prioritize accessibility, allowing participants to thrive in an experiential six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm, enriched with hands-on learning and community engagement. Throughout their journey, Fellows engage in diverse initiatives such as growing and distributing crops, facilitating community gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational activities. They will also support local farmers markets, enhance access to healthy foods, and mentor future cohorts. By the end of their fellowship, participants embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to put their skills into practice. Applications are accepted until March, with the program running from May to October each year, paving the way for real impact in the community.
