Located in Putney, VT, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, powered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of food system advocates who champion social, environmental, and economic justice. Through this impactful program, we empower our Fellows with comprehensive education in organic food systems, allowing them to become effective educators and leaders within their communities. Our tuition-free model ensures accessibility, enabling participants to engage deeply with diverse initiatives such as cultivating and distributing varied crops on a market-style farm, implementing innovative educational workshops on health care, and promoting ecological literacy within schools. Fellows will also contribute to the enhancement of local food access by supporting farmers' markets and direct-to-consumer programs, mentoring future leaders, and partnering with local nonprofit organizations during their Community Action Year. Applications are open until March, with the fellowship experience running from May to October, offering a rich opportunity to create lasting change in the food landscape of our communities.
