About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Richford, VT, empowers dedicated individuals to become transformative voices for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this Fellowship offers a comprehensive, tuition-free program covering organic food system education and practical training. Throughout the six-month, hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows engage in diverse activities including growing and distributing crops, implementing innovative health education, maintaining community gardens, and fostering food and ecological literacy in schools. They will also support farmers markets and strengthen direct-to-consumer programs, enhancing access to healthy foods in their communities. After completing their training, Fellows participate in a Community Action Year where they collaborate with regional non-profits to apply their skills and make a tangible impact in the local food landscape. Applications must be submitted by March each year, with the program running from May to October.
